Archive for holidays that give you an excuse to drink

post-holiday update

the holidays turned out to be much more interesting than they have been before… when we got to my grandmother’s house on christmas day for the usual family thing, we were greeted by a group of people standing in her side yard looking at this tree that was being blown by the wind. the tree which measured upwards of forty-five feet and a few feet in diameter and was growing on a slope was being uprooted by the wind. every time the wind would blow, the tree would rock toward her house, and there was probably about six inches between the roots and the ground as time progressed and the wind blew stronger. more family arrived, we evacuated the house, and called around to see where we could get help on christmas day. we ended up calling the fire department, and after a few hours and a whole lot of worrying about my grandmother’s house being demolished, we were able to begin our christmas day.

the holidays were pretty laid-back i must say. i just worked, hung out with brandon and some others, and did the family thing.

for the past day or so i’ve had this insatiatble urge to just go driving somewhere. i just want to call someone up, fill my car up with gas and just hit the road. it would be nice to get out of the province for a bit, hell, it would be nice to have a few days off from everything and have money to solely put into gas and accomodations. i should do this soon.

i don’t know what’s going on for new years eve at the time-being… my plans are all shifty at best, so i don’t really know if i have anything to count on (no offence to anybody, but things just seem to be teetering). it may just be a quiet night at home, because i don’t really feel like going out to bars or anything like that. i don’t know, i live by the seat of my pants so i’m sure something will come up… at least it’s not like last year when i had a bad stomach flu.

i’m getting even more antsy to move into my apartment in may. i keep getting the urge to look at housewares, and i’m really not sure why. i’m stupid and i like to be really, really prepared, so i guess it’s understandable on some level.

i’m going to bed.

hey, i’m not dead

so it’s been one month since my last post, but i have a good reason. life has basically been a whirlwind of events and i’ve been trying to keep my head in order through it all.

looking for roommates turned into me finally saying to myself, “screw it, look for a cheap bachelor apartment.” i did so, i found one, and i signed a lease last friday for a place that i’m really, really happy with. it’s a great price in a great location (roughly a minute walk away from campus), and i’m just happy to be done apartment hunting. i also cannot wait to move in once may comes around, not that i’m wishing away this semester, but it will just be pretty interesting to have my own place.

exams went well, although studying kicked my ass because i had to balance that an a busy work schedule. on top of that, i also pulled in some work at the al whittle theatre doing tech stuff, so that took up a considerable amount of my time for a bit. around the same time that i was getting my ducks in a row for christmas break, my car temporarily ate the shit-biscuit. my fuel pump went out, so the anticipated $600 or $700 that i would have to pay by the end of the month to have the damned thing inspected turned into a little over $1000. it goes into the shop tomorrow to have a front hub assembly done, as well as new brake pads put on, then after that i just have to fix a sil and i’m good to go.

things are working out nicely though, so i can’t complain. my work schedule is pretty decent for this week, and i went to a party at tubski’s last friday which ended up being really good aside from some randoms showing up and acting like turds. whatever, it’s a party, that kind of stuff happens.

jade isn’t coming down at the end of the month anymore. her visit is now rescheduled for sometime in february i do believe due to plane tickets costing so damn much this time of year

everything has just been really hectic and weird, but at the same time i’ve been enjoying myself. a little bit of financial stress right now means that things will soon be looking up in that respect, and it’s not like i won’t get some money for christmas. albeit, i wish that i hadn’t had to cough up $260 out of my $340 paycheque to cover car repairs; i also wish that unicef hadn’t made their monthly withdrawl from my account after i had to basically clean out my bank account for car repairs.

i’m going to go to bed now, though. i have to drop my car off at the mechanic’s at 8 am.

oh. i turned twenty on the 14th. it was a quiet birthday, although friday night made up for it. that is all.

happy belated canada day!

so these past two days have been extremely interesting i have to say… picked tubski up in sackville, brought him to the valley, partied at tracy’s, took a cab at about 4 am back to my place, slept, got food at joe’s in wolfville, drove around and found the old goler house, went swimming at the reservoir, went to berwick to see clare and jillian, hung out at my place, and drove tubski back to sackville.

run-on sentence, eh? so what.

tried to get a hold of dee to see if we were still going to the fireworks tonight for canada day like we had planned, but there was no answer… the canada day tradition has been broken (insert frowning “smiley”)

corbin comes tomorrow. i’m PUMPED

i would write more, but i’m currently working on some beats for a song… slick.
