oh, nova scotia
i would just like to give a big shout-out to my homeboys and homegirls from the government of nova scotia for getting it together and giving me confirmation of my student loan and for giving me a considerable amount of money; you’re all good people and i hope that you live happy, prosperous lives. for real, no lie, you guys deserve four goats and clean women in the afterlife, i’d hook you up if i had any god-like powers
downloading the new bury your dead as per demand of tubski, i guess it’s supposed to be really good. let’s see what this album has in store.
i’m pumped that i can officially afford to go to school in the fall and live in residence; some friends of mine have mentioned that they think it’s stupid that i want to live in residence since i’m about fifteen minutes away from the university’s campus, but really, the experience is what matters. on top of that, since i’m a theatre student, i will want to be handy for things considering friends of mine in the theatre program were always off on crew calls and such. but yeah, the experience is key, and i really just don’t care what they say anymore. beauty is that the nova scotian government through a nice grant on my loan that i don’t have to pay back, so it covers my schooling, and i don’t have to pay back a third of the loan. holy possible run-on sentence, batman
ricardo, the mexican, is coming back at the end of the month for a visit… i’m outrageously excited, i miss that kid; he’s my number-one mexican
by the way, new bury your dead IS great; my friends have good taste

lordy, lordy, son of mine
so this weekend was balls-out insanely good
friday was spent not doing too much, met up for coffee with heather in the evening, then hung out; drove out to sackville that night and spent the night at tubski’s with steve and ryan. we left the next morning at about 7 am for magic mountain (made a few stops along the way), but before we enjoyed any waterslides and maigcal mountains, we stopped by the huge big stop in salisbury that has all of the trucker stuff (showers, a theatre, etc.). it’s a brilliant place if i do say so myself, we snagged ourselves some free trucker bibles and scoped out the place with wonderment… it’s just as magical as it was when i went there back when i was touring with bloodletter, except this time it wasn’t three in the morning en route to montreal.
anyway, we hit magic mountain at about 10:30 or 11 and stayed until after 4 pm, rode all the waterslides, scoped out the sights/the locals (yeah, i’m a pig, so sue me. i ain’t dead, child) and grabbed some beavertails (no inuendo there, it’s a pastry); it was wicked and i’m really glad that we went. we all got kind of sunburnt but it was well worth it, even the pee-filled whirlpool that we stupidly went into for a bit… yeah.
after the water-park, we went back to salisbury to grab dinner at the big stop where we met the coolest truckstop waitress in the world named “kandy” who stole all of our hearts and took time out of waiting on tables to chat us up and bring us a phonebook so we could find a place to stay in moncton… yeah, we hadn’t figured out accomodations yet and it was set to thunder so a campground wasn’t looking too appealing; we ended up booking a room at the econo lodge in moncton and spent our evening there with a mini-keg of heineken, the olympics, and slow-jams (a considerable amount of michael franti & spearhead thanks to my iPod)… i’ve got to say that the room itself was pretty damn sketchy; it reminded us all of a horror movie
woke up the next morning, checked out and started on our way back to nova scotia, making a few stops along the way so that tubski and ryan could trespass in a cornfield, and to revisit our favourite big stop in salisbury one last time that weekend. we got back to sackville after a few wrong turns that almost landed us in cape breton, and then tubski and i went back to the valley and just hung out all evening. drove him home, went to bed, and i worked today.
i’m about to go out with dee and ty for a bit, and i’m pretty pumped… i had a great weekend and i’m pretty pumped for the toga shendig on saturday night, i’ve got to say.
by the way, because i’m pushy, i figure i’m going to throw some of my music taste onto you… here are five albums that i think you should buy/download/steal (in no particular order)… basically, this is my “what i’m listening to at the time-being” thing:
1) “the shepherd’s dog” by iron & wine
2) “midnight boom” by the kills
3) “ashtray rock” by the joel plaskett emergency
4) “get awkward” by be your own PET
5) “intimidator” by a textbook tragedy

it’s cool to love your family
the joel plaskett emergency concert was so damn good… really that’s the only way for me to describe it. it was just all around fun and it was nice running into people who i don’t get to see very often.
the bands were great, by the way; the only thing that brought down the night were a few douchebag crowd-surfers (one who fell on a kid in a wheelchair who was in the crowd… not like a little teenager, i’m talking an actual child in a wheelchair).
spent the night at tubski’s and came back late this afternoon, since then i’ve been sitting at home just having a very laid-back night where i don’t really have to get anything accomplished whatsoever… this is really nice, i must say, although these kinds of nights sometimes get me thinking about things, then i try to change things in my life. maybe that’s a good thing? maybe i’ve run out of things to change? i’m not quite sure at the moment.
i work tomorrow from 11:45 until 5, then i’m hanging out with dee and sam archer later sunday night, should be good, i haven’t seem sam archer in about a year now. man, it’s been a while…
magic mountain next weekend with tubski and other sackville people, and i think i’m going to start a countdown until feist plays on november eighth… i’m PUMPED

heed my words
first and foremost, i’m downloading music that i’ve lost and bands that i’ve been planning on downloading for a while. because of this, i finally decided to download both albums by “maylene and the sons of disaster”, and i’ve got to say that i’m really impressed… seriously, look them up, kids.
last night ended on an interesting note after all, tonight was spent mostly in hantsport celebrating a friend’s birthday watching a punk show out of a garage followed by a bonfire… quite a bit of fun, i’ve got to say.
played some of the new songs for people tonight and it was really well received… that makes me a little bit more confident about starting recording sometime soon and actually makes me want to get a head-start on it… i’m waiting on the macbook though.
speaking of the macbook, i’m hoping that it comes in on monday, if not, wednesday (tuesday is canada day); i’m pumped to finally get it.
choppy post, i know. don’t crucify me for it, this is basically a representation of my thought-process.
